New Jersey Caregiver Resources: Where Families Can Turn for Help
Families and caregivers often spend so much time helping someone else that finding support for themselves gets pushed to the bottom of the list. New Jersey has several statewide resources that can make that easier.
The New Jersey Disability Information Hub brings together information for people with disabilities, caregivers, parents, and advocates in one place. It includes employment assistance, healthcare resources, transportation, legal and advocacy resources, assistive technology, and information for families navigating different stages of life.
For people who are not sure where to begin, New Jersey’s Division of Disability Services offers live assistance through trained Community Resource Specialists at 1-888-285-3036. They can help residents find programs and services and understand which resources may fit their needs.
Caregivers can also find information about respite, peer support, mental-health resources, education, guardianship, and community programs through the state’s caregiver resource pages. The goal is not to make families navigate every system alone.
Friendly Connections encourages families and support coordinators to keep these statewide resources handy. Even when you already have services in place, knowing where to turn for an additional question, referral, or support can make a difficult day a little easier.
