October is full of opportunities across New Jersey for people with disabilities, families, caregivers, and support coordinators to connect with useful resources and community events.

The New Jersey Division of Disability Services lists several October 2026 events, including a Disability Employment Awareness Job & Resource Fair in Toms River on October 6, a resource fair in Old Bridge on October 7, a Disability Connections information and resource fair in Edison on October 9, and a Fall Festival & Resource Fair for All Abilities in Union County on October 11.

These events can be a practical way to learn about employment supports, transition resources, community programs, and local services while meeting organizations that work directly with people and families.

The New Jersey Division of Developmental Disabilities is also offering October webinars focused on supported employment, transition services, NJ WorkAbility, and Project SEARCH. Families and support coordinators may find these especially useful when helping someone explore work goals or prepare for the transition to adult services.

Friendly Connections believes information is most useful when it helps people take the next practical step. Whether that means learning about work supports, finding a local resource, or simply meeting other people in the community, these October events offer several good places to start.
