Why Background Checks Matter in DDD Services: New Jersey Training on October 20
Background checks are a routine but important part of hiring and service delivery in New Jersey’s developmental-disability system.
The New Jersey Division of Developmental Disabilities is offering two free sessions on October 20, 2026 called 'Behind the Hire: Understanding Required Background Checks.' Sessions are scheduled for 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. and again from 1 p.m. to 2:30 p.m.
The training is intended to help people better understand the required screening process that applies before certain staff can begin working in DDD-funded services.
For families and support coordinators, understanding these steps can help explain why onboarding sometimes takes time even after a good candidate has been identified.
For job applicants, knowing that background checks are a normal part of the process can make the hiring timeline easier to understand and prepare for.
Friendly Connections encourages clear communication throughout onboarding so candidates, families, and support coordinators know what has been completed and what still needs to happen.
